In june 2024 an hydrogen and ammonia plant opened in Norway by Yara
This plant will produce as follows:
24MW hydrogen (57.6 kwh/kg)
10 tons/day hydrogen (3650 tons/year)
55 tons/day ammonia (20 000 tons/year)
It costs approximately:
3 years for construction
$26.5 million cost
Given the 30kg/year/person 2023 ammonia consumption (source), this plant covers the ammonia need for approx 670 thousands people. The investment cost per individual is about 40$ only.
